We were searching for the perfect pet when we discovered a Twitch streamer with ferrets. In February 2013, we fell in love with a ferret named Eve. Thanks to “ferret math,” we soon had a total of four: Eve, Lily, Daisy, and Wally. We added Rosie in 2015.
Concerned about the health issues of ferrets from pet stores, we sought out breeders dedicated to improving the breed. In 2017, we welcomed JBF’s Ruby Slipper (Ruby) and NB’s Mr. Sweetface (Odie) into our family. The following year, we attended our first ferret shows with Odie and Ruby, which deepened our understanding of breeding and judging. Ruby won Alter Ferret of the Year in 2018. Since then, we’ve regularly participated in AFA-sanctioned shows, showcasing ferrets from private breeders as well as late-alter companion ferrets. Corinna began stewarding at AFA shows in 2018 and became a color specialty judge in 2019. By 2023, she achieved the title of judge and took on the role of AFA Director of Shows & Special Events.
Currently, we volunteer at the Pennsylvania Ferret Rescue Association in State College, PA, caring for many shelter ferrets in need of medication or who are elderly. We provide them with a forever home until they pass.
In 2021, we welcomed our first litter from Odie and NB’s Let’s Dance Starlight of LG (Star). Our goal is to enhance the breed, focusing on their health and temperament. All our ferrets are primarily pets and beloved family members. They interact with us daily, have their own rooms, and enjoy supervised playtime in the main living area when we’re home.
We officially adopted the name “Adventure Ferrets” in 2021, inspired by our journey and experiences with our beloved pets. I even tattooed the name on my hand, which often appears in many of my ferret pictures on our Facebook page. This name perfectly captures the spirit of our adventures together and reflects our commitment to sharing our joy and knowledge about ferrets with others.
